10/24/11 - Rotavirus Vaccine Benefits Now Far Outweigh Risks
Studies are in
We have been cautious with this vaccine because of the intussusception mentioned in the article. Now, we will stock the vaccine, and look forward to discussing the benefits and risks with our patients individually.
10/11/11 - Mumps at UC Berkeley
There is a mumps outbreak at UCB. So far, 7 confirmed cases with 13 under investigation. Here are links to Wikipedia and the Marin IJ.
We immunize to prevent the complications listed at the bottom, including testicular atrophy and sterility, ovarian infection, pancreatitis, encephalitis, and hearing loss. Please call us if your child is not fully up to date.

The CDC did a nice study showing the importance of getting the flu vaccine. Here's a link to the ABC News version. We have our supplies in stock and are scheduling shots on Tuesdays.

Our office is happy to announce that Amy Ostrander, CPNP has the opportunity to travel to Argentina for a spanish immersion program, we look forward to her return in February.

There will be 5 immunization clinics in Marin County to prepare our students whom have not been vaccinated with their whooping cough vaccine. All Clinics will be held between 10am-2PM.
1) Monday Aug. 15, Tamalpias High School, Gus Classroom
2) Tuesday Aug. 16, Sir Francis Drake High School, Drake Student Center
3) Wednesday Aug. 17, San Rafael High School, Gymnasium
4) Friday Aug. 19, Marin County Office of Education, Marin Room
5) Monday Aug. 22, Hill Middle School, Multi-use Room

The whooping cough epidemic is almost over. In the meantime, all students in grades
7 through 12 require proof of Whooping cough immunization. Please call to get this done because we want all of our patients to start school on time.
